Dundee Fun in Athletics Festivals:

Fun in Athletics programme provides a highly enjoyable way for young people to try running, jumping and throwing activities as an introduction into athletics. It gives children their first taste of the fun and excitement of track and field events in a safe environment.

There are a number of festivals arranged between October and November in localised facilities throughout Dundee. Winners from each FIA festival will be invited to attend the Dundee Final.

The winner and runners up from the Dundee Final will be entered in to the regional Final that will be held at Next Generation.

These programmes are organised for Primary School Teams in partnership with the Active Schools Team.

Giant Heptathlon:

This is a Secondary School based competition, where Schools enter teams of 14 athletes (7 boys, 7 girls) from 1st and 2nd year Pupils. The teams initially participate in a training session during the morning of the event and then a competition in the afternoon. The events included are Sprints / Hurdles / Relay / Endurance / Jumps / Throws.

This event is run in partnership with SportTayside & Fife.

Athletics Provision:

The Run, Jump & Throw programme is an innovative, fun programme which provides children with the opportunity to participate in athletics activities all year round. The programme is aimed at children aged 7-14 years with an interest in sports, keeping fit and meeting new friends. One of the main benefits will be that children will have fun whilst developing the core skills and fundamentals that can be used in various different sports.

Holiday Programme:

Dundee City Council in Partnership with Norwich Union Star:track athletics have put together a comprehensive holiday programme.

Athletes will be able to take part in running, jumping, throwing, fun relays and much, much more. Everyone will also have the opportunity to test their skills and gain a Shine Award, there will also be free prizes for each athlete such as Star:track T-shirts and Goody Bags.
