The Leisure Active Card can be used to pay for the majority of Sports Development's Term Time classes being run at DISC, Douglas and Lynch Sports Centres only. Please check when booking as there are a few exceptions.

The Leisure Active card cannot be used to pay for Sports Development's Holiday Programmes during Easter, Summer and October.

It is always best to check in advance with the relevant Officer as some classes operate waiting lists due to being fully booked.

This varies depending on Venue and Activity as some venues close whereas others remain open. Coaches at the class will inform you the week before as to whether they will be running or not.

Alternatively, you can check further in advance by contacting the relevant Officer in charge of the programme.

As a general rule, School based classes are cancelled during In-Service days, whereas others vary depending on Venue and Activity. Coaches at the class will inform you the week before as to whether they will be running or not.

Alternatively, you can check further in advance by contacting the relevant Officer in charge of the programme.

This varies depending on activity as some classes require a block payment in advance whereas others are just pay on the day. You will be informed when booking a space as to which method is used for your class.

Payment can be made by cash, cheque and for some venues by credit/debit card.

All Holiday programmes must be booked and paid for in advance by using our new Online Booking System, which can be found on our holiday pages. This new system will accomodate Credit / Debit Card payments . More information on this can be found at the Holiday Bookings Office on (01382) 438808.
Postal Bookings can still be accepted and must be paid by cheque or postal orders. As bookings are processed on a first come basis on the website, we cannot guarantee that a space will still be available when your postal booking arrives at our Office.
Please do not send cash in the post. If you require to pay by cash, please contact the Holiday Bookings Office on (01382) 438808 to arrange a suitable time to pay at the Office.

You will either be contacted by telephone or letter to inform you if you have a space or if you have been placed on a waiting list. If you are placed on a waiting list, you will be contacted again as soon as a space becomes available.

Please bear in mind that some activities have strict limitations on the number of participants attending, which is why some waiting lists may be large.

Generally, you should wear something comfortable that doesn't restrict movement, but at the same time not too baggy. Indoor trainers are also advisable for most classes.
There are some exceptions e.g. Gymnastics and Trampolining, but you will be informed of suitable clothing for these activities in your confirmation letter.
If you are still unsure, you can contact the relevant Officer for guidance.

Water or another non-fizzy drink is recommended for most classes. If the class is full day during the holiday programmes, a packed lunch and snacks for breaks will also be required.

Outdoor activities will also require suitable wet weather clothing, e.g. rain jacket, as the weather can be unpredictable and the class may still continue.

Specialist sports equipment may be required for some activities and this will be detailed in your confirmation letter. If unsure, you can contact the relevant Officer for more information.

You can just turn up to a class, but there is no guarantee that there will be a space. Some classes can accomodate everyone who turns up whereas others are fully booked and operate a waiting list. If you turn up to one of those, you will be given a booking form to complete and then added to the waiting list. It is always better to check in advance.

As our holiday programmes operate on a pre-book system, we only have enough coaches at the class to cover the numbers we know have booked on. By booking in advance, we can put extra coaches in to some classes to cover any extra participants, but if you turn up on the day, we can't.

If you do just turn up on the day, you will be required to complete a booking form with parental consent where applicable.
